More about the Queens Jubilee River Thames Pageant…
Millions of spectators are expected to line the banks along the river from Putney to Tower Bridge to watch the procession, which will take 90 minutes to pass any given point.
A flotilla of 1000 boats will be led by the Gloriana, a 27m-long (88ft) gold leaf craft rowed by an 18-man crew, which will carry The Queen and other royals.
Following in its wake will be a 11km (seven-mile) procession of historic craft including Dunkirk ‘little ships’, steamboats, tugs, pleasure boats, Dutch barges and passenger ships.
The flotilla’s arrival will be heralded by the Royal Jubilee Bells and answered by churches along the route.
It will be divided into ten sections with music barges spread throughout, which will play a mix of classical, Bollywood, military, Scottish and English tunes. Downton Abbey composer John Lunn and nine others have also created a new piece based on Handel’s Water Music.
